Configuration Management

Configuration management provides the basis for improvements that contribute towards a successful development process. Configuration management refers to the way in which the content, changes or status of shared information within a project are managed and controlled. If there is no configuration management, then the coherence of a project is likely to collapse and the successful outcome of the project will be uncertain – no matter how talented the project staff, how large the budget, how solid development, test, and integration processes, or how technologically superior the development environment may be.
